smoking-pigeonAll of us know by now, or at least I hope so, that the smoking habit is a real killer!

I remember as  kid my parents telling me never to start smoking!  But my father did (and he eventually passed from emphysema).

But it’s hard for someone to actually believe that smoking is bad, when you feel fine, and others smokers that you know also feel fine!

This dichotomy between one’s own experiences and what one is being told, makes it a tough sell!

smokingHowever nowadays the detailed information available to us makes it even harder!  The evidence is overwhelming!  Below I offer a summary of what is now known.  If  a smoker is aware of these FACTS and doesn’t immediately seek help to quit, they are probably deserving of the inevitable consequences!

  • Tobacco smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals!  At least 50 of these are KNOWN CARCINOGENS (cause cancer in humans) and many are just classified as poisonous!
  • Tobacco kills up to HALF of its regular users!
  • Tobacco caused 100 MILLION deaths in the 20th century!
  • Cigarettes are on of the few products, which can be sold legally, which can harm or kill you over time, if used as intended!
  • Scientists claim that the average smoker will lose 14 YEARS of their life due to smoking!
  • Nicotine reaches the brain within 10 seconds after smoke is inhaled, and has been found in every part of the body  as well as breast milk!
  • Sugar approximates to roughly 20% of a cigarette, and many diabetics are unaware of this secret sugar intake.  Also the effects on the body of inhaling burning sugar is unknown!
  • “Lite” cigarettes are produced by infusing tobacco with CO2 and superheating it until the tobacco “puffs up” like expanding foam.  the expanded tobacco then fills the same paper tube as a “regular” tobacco!  
  • On average, smokers draw on “lite” and menthol cigarettes harder than regular ones, causing the same levels of tar and nicotine to be consumed!
  • The manufacturer uses several active ingredients, and special methods of production to ensure that the nicotine levels in a cigarette is many time more potent than that of a tobacco plant!
  • Cigarettes cost a lot of money, $5 to $14 (in New York)!  That’s a lot of cash (more than $5000 for NY) over a year, even if you only smoke one pack per day!

We have many methods available today, to help a person quit, such as:

  • Gradual reduction
  • Nicotine replacement therapy
  • Patches
  • Gum
  • Nasal sprays
  • Inhalers
  • Hypnosis
  • Acupuncture
  • PEMF therapy
  • Low level laser therapy

These methods have varying degrees of cost, time, and success!  And, most important of all, the person MUST want to quit! If someone really enjoys smoking, and they don’t have any medical symptoms (yet), they will not stop, no matter what method they use!

Tobacco is a nasty addiction that ONLY affects your health and life in a negative way.  Think of what you could do with all that extra cash you will have on hand after you stop!

With the huge downsides of the smoking habit, which include poor health, complaints from friends and spouse, dealing with the many “Non Smoking” areas being enforced now, and the cost, it would behoove any current smoker to find a quitting option that will work for them!

Thyroid – Hypo and Autoimmune

There is a thyroid epidemic in this country (actually the world!), and most people, and even most doctors, are unaware of it.  If they are aware…they don’t know how to treat it correctly!

According the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist (AACE) 27 million suffer from a thyroid condition!  Some sources say that up to 90% of women, age 40 and up, have sub clinical Hypothyroid (symptomatic but undiagnosed). A leading thyroid doctor, Dr. Broda Barnes MD of the Broda Barnes Institute, says it’s 90% of American men and women!  WOW!

There are many symptoms of thyroid dysfunction including:

  • Weight gain that doesn’t respond to diet or exercise
  • Sleep problems and/or fatigue
  • Hot flashes
  • Cold hands and feet
  • Depression
  • Thinning of hair and/or loss of outer 1/3 of the eyebrows
  • Brain fog

There are a number of factors involved including severe lack of iodine, but the main cause is Cellular Inflammation!

This is the inflammation of the cells’ membrane, and it is the root cause of ALL chronic illness.  The inflammation of the membrane  is caused by 3 major influences – Bad Fats, Sugar and Toxins!  Briefly, when the membrane is inflamed, the cell does not function correctly, and eventually dies.  Depending on what cells are involved will determine your doctor’s diagnoses.

In the case of the thyroid, it may not even be the gland itself.  Other glands and organs are involved such as the hypothalamus, pituitary, adrenals and even the liver!

Doctors often base their diagnosis on the lab tests they perform.  Usually the test does NOT look at the correct parameters and they base their results on TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), which, if good, they tell you that your  test came back OK and you’re fine!  But you still feel like crap!  This is called “treating the labs, not the patient.”

However, with Cellular Inflammation involved it could be the cell is unable to respond to the TSH or any other hormone!

Autoimmune comes into play because the body attacks the thyroid tissue (or any other tissue) because of the inflammation involved.

Yes, we consider thyroid dysfunction to be an epidemic!  Possibly the most undiagnosed epidemic in history!  (You’d think big pharma would try to sell us a vaccine for it!)  The trick is to find the ACTUAL CAUSE, and not just assume it’s the thyroid!  We do this in our wellness center, in a completely  non-invasive way!  Heal the cell and get well!

70,000!!  Added to FOOD?!  Why would real food  need any additives?  This is definitely a problem, A BIG PROBLEM!

The food industry, like so many others, is totally out of control!  It’s all about the bottom line ($).  Why do they add these ingredients?  Well, they will usually say it’s a preservative, to prevent spoiling and make the product last longer (FOREVER) on the shelves.  But they pay NO ATTENTION to what affect these toxic chemicals have on the human body!  And they usually camouflage the real names of these ingredients, because they don’t want to scare the public and reduce their $ales!

Here is a brief list of some of the more popular ingredients and what they are sourced from:

Adrenaline – Adrenal glands of hogs, cattle and sheep. Common in medicine.

Albumin – Made from blood, eggs, cow’s milk or vegetables. Often used to add texture or to thicken food — baked goods, cakes, cookies, pastries, candies and cosmetics (also in vaccines).

Ambergris – Whale intestines, synthetic or vegetable. Check perfumes for this.

Amylase – Fungal, bacterial, animal (pig).

Carmine (Cochineal or Carminic Acid) – Red coloring made from insects (e.g.: female beetles). Very common in candies, frozen pops, ice cream, fruit fillings, yogurt, pudding and bottled juices.

Clarifying Agent – Animal-based (egg, gelatin, fish bladder). Used to make liquids clear.

Dextrose – (GMO corn sugar) Animal bones may be used to filter it.

Diglyceride – Animal (cow or hog), vegetable. Baked goods, peanut butter, chewing gum, whipped topping, sweets, drinks, ice creams and shortening.

Dough Conditioner – Glyceryl monostearate, potassium bromate, locust (carob) bean gum, monocalcium sulfate, benzoyl peroxide and calcium sulfate. Watch out for azodicarbonamide and anti-foaming agents also.

Emulsifier – Animal (cow, hog, eggs, milk), vegetable, synthetic. In most processed foods. Lecithin, mono- and diglycerides, calcium stearoyl, polysorbate and monostearate.

Folic Acid (Pteroylglutamic Acid, Folacin) – Usually synthetic or fungal.

Fat – Animal (cow or hog, tallow and lard).

Flavor enhancer – Animal (meat or fish), vegetable. Monosodium glutamate, disodium guanylate, disodium inosiante and soy sauce (90% of soy is GMO).

Lipase – Enzyme from the tongue and stomach of animals (like hogs and cows), fungal. Common in cheese, ice cream and margarine.

Modified Starch – Corn that has been altered in laboratories to contain pesticide. All GMO corn is cancer-causing.

MSG – Monosodium glutamate: Concentrated irradiated salt. Watch out for maltodextrin, autolyzed yeast extract and hydrolized soy protein, all food criminal “cousins” of MSG.

Of course, never consume aspartame, sucralose or sorbitol, as these are synthetic sweeteners and concocted in a laboratory. It’s time to “about face” this onslaught of bad health that really comes from bad choices. Don’t spend another dollar on the food agents that breed cellular disease. Be the smartest shopper you know!

By now everyone knows that SUGAR is bad for you.  Well, maybe not everyone!  You see, the majority of the population has been under the spell of the propaganda being spewed forth about how sugar is really not that bad.  “It’s Natural”! “Got a problem with artificial sweeteners?  We use pure natural sugar in our soft drinks!”  Different poisons , same affect – POOR HEALTH!

If you read my post on CELLULAR INFLAMMATION you learned that there are three main things that cause it, toxins, bad fats and sugar.  Cellular inflammation (inflammation of the cell’s membrane) basically causes the cell not to function correctly and eventually die.

The inflamed membrane affects the cell’s ability to get rid of waste, absorb nutrients, and it’s receptors become blunted and non-functional, ultimately causing cell death.  Depending on which cells are affected, determines what disease you doctor will diagnose!  (That’s the reason the above charts seem to have unrelated diseases, but they all are affected by cells dying off).

An article written by Brad Chase in today’s NaturalNews.com explained a good three step process to break a sugar addiction!  First you make sure all your fruits a veggies are ORGANIC.  This produce tastes better, has a higher nutritional content, and contains slower-breaking-down complex carbs.  This is a key factor.

Secondly, if you consume pastries and cookies, you can substitute a whole grain bread and raw honey.  This is not the healthiest option, but it can help break the habit of the simple sugars in baked goods!  Again these are steps taken to break the addiction to sugar.

And thirdly if you are craving crunchy snacks use raw nuts and trail mixes as a substitute for chips, pretzels etc.  Nuts are a great source of nutrients, just make sure they are raw and organic.  If you want to “kick it up a notch”, soak the nuts and them dehydrate them.  This increases their digestibility and actually makes certain nuts taste better!  You can do a search for the simple process of doing this.

Before long, your “taste” for sugar will actually disappear, or be severely curtailed.  When I was a young man (about 100 years ago) I would put multiple (3 to 4) teaspoons of sugar in my coffee, now I drink it black!

You will also see many of your chronic symptoms disappear, and you will not get the annual bout with the flu!

And then you can take it further to other aspects of your environment, and deal with toxins and bad fats!
