Cellular Inflammation

TIME Magazine issue on inflammation.

TIME Magazine issue on inflammation.

Time magazine back in February 2004 had an article on inflammation being “The Secret Killer”.   But I don’t think most people understand the real implications of this concept!

The average person thinks of inflammation as “sprained swollen ankle”, or ” that infected wound”.  This is true but it goes much deeper!   The real problem is the inflammation of the cell, specifically the cell membrane!

Inflammation of the cell membrane causes MANY problems!

The cell’s receptors (like little antennas that listen for signals such as hormones)  are located on the cell’s outer membrane.  When the membrane gets inflamed (mainly caused by three things – SUGAR, TOXINS, and BAD FATS), the receptors are blunted and do not function optimally. So the cell becomes “deaf” to signals ( hormones) that are sent to it.  Also, because the membrane’s “fluidity” is affected by the inflammation, nutrients cannot enter the cell, and waste products cannot escape!  Inside the cell, the mitochondria also has a membrane, and this membrane is affected the same way.  This results in the DECREASE of ATP production, the fuel that the cell needs to function. This all leads to the dysfunction of the cell and the associated “dis-eases”  that result – heart disease, diabetes, cancer, digestive issue, etc., etc.

We can attribute ALL chronic diseases to the process of cellular inflammation and dysfunction, and there is no way to fix this problem without fixing the cellular membrane!  We must remove all the factors that are contributing to this inflammation, and replace them with the proper nutrition.

In my next post I will outline the things that must be done to correct this imbalance in the cell.  Heal the cell, and get well!

Hemp

Well, it’s about time! One company, Dixie X has developed and is producing Hemp CBD Wellness Products that can help your brain, eyes, heart, stomach, intestines, hands and legs.

Some of the effects of CBD are anti-psychotic, anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, antioxidant, neuroprotective, vasorelaxant for glaucoma, artheroscloerosis, anti-ischemic, anti-emetic, appetite control, anti-prokinetic, analgesic for rheumatoid arthritis, and is good for stimulating new bone growth and strengthening bones affected by osteoporosis! That’s a pretty good list of positive affects for a natural product!

This product contains the non-psychoactive ingredient Cannabidiol (CBD), giving all the health benefits and none of the “down side”.

Available as a liquid (suitable for internal or external use), a salve (good for applying to the skin for pain relief), and the Scrips which are capsules.  These product are available from http://www.dixiex.com and from our site (soon to be upgraded to allow direct ordering) http://www.aviewtoyourhealth.com.  Just call us and we will ship to you.

I think hemp is making a comeback!

Thermography in Breast Health

The medical industry never ceases to amaze me!  Thermography, or D.I.T.I. (Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging) as it is sometimes called, has been around since 1800 when Sir William Herschel discovered infrared radiation, and yet it is not a technology that is widely utilized by practitioners.

The very first thermal image was taken in 1948, and it took 40 minutes to complete!  This poor woman!

The first thermal in 1948!

Now the technology is so advanced that it’s exactly like taking a picture with your camera!  Smile!

This is a procedure that runs rings around the traditional mammogram!

No radiation, no touching, no squeezing, completely non-invasive!

Furthermore, a modern thermographic image of the breast (it can also be used to visualize ANY part of the body)  allows the doctor to find pathology 6 to 8 YEARS before a mammogram!  Now that is pretty cool, and useful!

A modern-day digital thermograph!

The procedure is quick, painless and typically less expensive than the traditional mammogram, and because there is no radiation, it doesn’t CAUSE cancer!  So why doesn’t every doctor use it?  I’m just guessing that they spent so much money on their equipment, they have to use it to get their return on their investment.

All women can benefit from DITI breast screening.  However it is especially appropriate for younger women (30 – 50) whose denser breast tissue makes it more difficult for mammography to be effective.   Also for women of all ages who, for many reasons, are unable to undergo routine mammography.  This test can provide a “clinical marker” to the doctor or mammographer that a specific area of the breast needs particularly close examination.

The idea is to get your first screening and repeat in 3 months, then that is your baseline.  After just annually.  The doctor will look for changes in your images that might indicate pathology.

One day there may be a single method for the early detection of breast cancer.  Until then, using a combination of methods will increase you chances of detecting cancer in an early stage.  These methods include:

  • Annual DITI screening for women of all ages.
  • Mammography. when considered appropriate for women who are aged 50 and over.
  • A regular breast examination by a health professional.
  • Monthly breast self-examination.
  • Personal awareness for changes in the breast.
  • Readiness to discuss quickly any such changes with a doctor.

These guideline should be considered along with your background and medical history.

Above all else, live a healthy lifestyle and your odds will be good that you’ll never develop cancer.
